Processing of Personal Data
What is personal data?
Personal data is information that relates to an identified or identifiable natural person or can be associated with a specific person – such as salutation, first name, last name, date of birth, address, email address, etc.
What is processing?
The term “processing” or “process” encompasses any handling of personal data, such as collecting, storing, evaluating, retaining personal data – regardless of the means and procedures used.
Processing Principles
The protection of your personal data is important to us. Therefore, we process your data only in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
This means, among other things, that we process your personal data only for the purposes legally provided for, about which we inform you transparently, or which are recognizable to you. Furthermore, your personal data is processed only to the necessary extent, confidentially, and by authorized persons.
Unless we are obliged to process personal data due to a legal provision or because we have an overriding interest in processing your data, we obtain your consent for the processing of your data.
Data Processing on our Websites
In some cases, we can assign a unique identification number (an ID) to your end device (PC, tablet, smartphone, etc.), e.g., by means of cookies or similar technologies, so that we can recognize the end device. From this purely technical data alone, it is generally not possible to establish a personal reference to you as a website visitor. However, the technical data can be merged with your personal data (e.g., contact details). On this basis, we receive important information about the use of our websites. The log files are also stored to guarantee the functionality of the website and to ensure the security of our information technology systems. Therefore, the processing of this data, if the GDPR is applicable, is based on the legal basis of the legitimate interests of the processor (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR). The data is stored only for as long as necessary to achieve the purpose of its collection. As a rule, log files are automatically deleted after 6 months. The storage of log files is absolutely necessary for the operation of the website, so you have no possibility to object to it.
Membership and Donations
You can register as a member of Swiss-Health Alliance (SHA) via our website and offline using forms to get involved in groups, networks, or other structures for projects of SHA International. For the purpose of member registration, we process your contact details, such as salutation, first name, last name, email address, postal address, as well as the chosen payment method and the amount of the membership fee.
For the purpose of data collection, we sometimes work with external service providers.
If you donate to Swiss-Health Alliance (SHA), your contact details (such as salutation, first name, last name, email address, date of birth, postal address, as well as the chosen payment method and the amount of the donation) will be processed.
The processing of your data within the scope of your membership (e.g., member admission, member administration, correspondence with members, contribution administration, invitation to association events, etc.) or a donation is carried out, if the GDPR is applicable, on the legal basis of the fulfillment of a contract or for the implementation of pre-contractual measures (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR) or on the basis of our legitimate interests in the processing of personal data for the fulfillment of the association’s purpose.
Swiss-Health Alliance (SHA) offers the following payment options for donations and membership fees: SMS (for this payment method, we also process your phone number and billing is done directly via your mobile provider), LSV/DD, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PostFinance Card, PostFinance E-Finance, PayPal, TWINT, and payment slip. Your data is transmitted encrypted. SHA itself does not store card data; your payment data is processed directly via an external partner certified by the credit card industry (PCI DSS). The privacy policies of the respective partners apply.
Donations to Swiss-Health Alliance (SHA) are deductible from taxable income. If you provide us with your postal address, you will receive a donation receipt from us. Further details on tax deductibility (direct federal, cantonal, and municipal taxes) can be found here on zewo.ch.
The personal data we receive from you as part of registration or donation will be stored with us for as long as necessary for member support, processing your donation, or fulfilling further legal obligations.
We periodically inform our members, donors, and interested parties about current topics, activities, fundraising campaigns, and other offers from Swiss-Health Alliance International. For this purpose, we contact you by mail, phone, or email. If you do not wish to receive information from us, you can unsubscribe via the designated link in the email or inform us at any time by sending a message to rdp@sha-ngo.com, specifying the exact contact details to be excluded (postal address, phone, etc.). If you purchase a membership as a gift for another person, we also process the contact details of the gifted person as mentioned above, in addition to your own details.
Appeals, Petitions, and other Activities
If you would like to get involved with us for a cause, you can join and co-sign appeals, petitions, and other activities via our website. On a case-by-case basis, a selection of these form data will then be forwarded to authorities, companies, organizations, etc.: usually salutation, first name, last name, place of residence, and country. For this purpose, we process your contact details such as salutation, first name, last name, email address, postal address.
We process your personal data in the context of these activities, if the GDPR is applicable, on the legal basis of the fulfillment of a contract or for the implementation of pre-contractual measures (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR) or on the basis of our legitimate interests in the processing of personal data for the fulfillment of the association’s purpose according to our statutes (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR).
This data is stored with us for as long as necessary to perform the specific commitment or to fulfill further legal obligations.
If the activity is coordinated not by us but by another organization, you may be redirected to a website that is not operated by us and for whose content we are not responsible. In such cases, the privacy policies of the respective operators of that website apply.

6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR).

If required for registration for a course or event, we also process the name and address of the company or institution and the number of participants.
We process the personal data you submit to us via the contact form, if the GDPR is applicable, on the basis of our legitimate interests in processing personal data for the fulfillment of the association’s purpose according to our statutes and for processing your specific request (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR).
We store this data for as long as it is necessary to answer your inquiry or as required for the fulfillment of further legal obligations.

We are active on various social networks (namely Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Bluesky, Twitter (account only), YouTube, and LinkedIn). Our social media presences are linked to our websites with social media plugins. The plugins are recognizable by the logo of the respective social network.

If you do not wish the provider to collect data about you via our website, you must log out or sign off from the provider before visiting our website. Providers generally collect anonymized data via social plugins and set cookies, even if you are not logged in to the respective platform. You can manage cookies with us via our cookie banner. This data can be associated with your profile if you log in to the provider at a later time.
The data you publish on our social media pages (such as usernames, comments, videos, images, likes, etc.) are published by the respective providers. However, we can delete the content if necessary. If you communicate with us via social media or comment on or share our content, we collect relevant information and process your personal data. Cookies and Tracking on our Websites
Use of Cookies
Our website uses cookies. Cookies are text files that are stored on your device’s operating system by your browser when you access our website. Cookies are used for website functionality, but also provide important information to the website operator or a third party about the devices you use and your preferences.
When a cookie is activated, an identification number (cookie ID) is assigned to the cookie, through which your browser is identified and the information contained in the cookie can be used. This information generally does not directly identify you, but it enables a personalized web experience.
Some of the cookies we use are temporary session cookies, which are automatically deleted from your computer or mobile device after the browser session ends. In addition, we also use permanent cookies. We use cookies to make our website more user-friendly. By storing cookies on your device, we can recognize your browser when you revisit the page. This allows us to save certain settings (such as SessionID, shopping cart content in the shop, Remember Me / Autologin for login functions) so that you do not have to re-enter them when you revisit the website. The use of technically necessary cookies and the related processing of your data is based on the legal grounds of our legitimate interests in designing a user-friendly website according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR, provided this provision is applicable. If we use technically non-essential cookies and process personal data about you in this context, we require your consent according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR, provided this provision is applicable.
The cookies are stored on your computer. You therefore have full control over the use of cookies. You can delete them completely or deactivate or restrict their transmission by changing the settings in your internet browser. If cookies are deactivated for our website, not all functions of the website may be fully usable.
The cookies and tracking methods used on our websites originate either from us or from third-party providers. For example, we use analytics services to evaluate how you arrived at our websites and how you use them, in order to optimize and personalize our offerings. The use of cookies enables us to address you with individualized advertising on our websites or on other websites, as well as on social networks that also cooperate with this third party, and to measure the effectiveness of these advertisements. These third-party providers can record the use of the relevant websites. These recordings can be linked by the respective provider with similar information from other websites. The behavior of certain website visitors can thus be recorded across multiple websites and multiple end devices.
The respective third-party provider may also use this data for its own purposes. If you are registered with the respective third-party provider, they can link the data. For these data processing activities, we refer you to the privacy policies of the respective provider.
Below, we inform you which cookies and tracking methods are specifically used on our websites, for what purposes, and from which third-party provider they originate.
For the different types of cookies we use, you can find information and set your preferences here.
Pixel Tags
A pixel tag is technically not a cookie, but a similar type of technology placed on a website or in emails (newsletters) to track activities on websites or in emails. Pixel tags are often used in combination with cookies. The collected information is anonymous. We use Facebook pixel tags to track conversions from social media to our website. Further information on the Facebook pixel tag can be found here.
PiwikPro
For success and reach measurement, we use PiwikPro from the Piwik PRO Group with Piwik PRO GmbH (Germany) / Piwik PRO sp. z o.o. (Poland) / Piwik PRO LLC (USA). Detailed information on PiwikPro’s data protection can be found on piwikpro.de under: “Data Protection & Security” and the Privacy Policy.
Crazy Egg
We use the web tracking tool Crazy Egg on our websites. Crazy Egg is operated by Crazy Egg, Inc., 16220 Ridgeview Lane, La Mirada, CA, 90638, USA. Crazy Egg uses cookies that enable an analysis of your website usage. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website is usually transmitted to a Crazy Egg server in the USA and stored there.
Privacy Policy: http://www.crazyegg.com/privacy
Opt-Out: You can prevent the storage of cookies by adjusting the settings in your browser software accordingly. Furthermore, you can prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) by Crazy Egg, as well as the processing of this data by Crazy Egg, by following the instructions at the following link: http://www.crazyegg.com/opt-out
Google Audiences
We use Google Audiences (GA Audiences), another web analytics service from Google. Through this service, data is collected and stored, from which pseudonymized usage profiles are created. Through this technology, targeted advertising from Swiss-Halth Alliance (SHA) Switzerland can be displayed to users who have visited our websites on other external pages of the Google Partner Network.
GA Audience uses, among other things, cookies that are stored on your computer and mobile devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets, etc.) and enable an analysis of the use of the respective devices. The data is partly evaluated across devices. GA Audience gains access to the cookies created during the use of Google Analytics. During use, data, such as your IP address and user activities, can be transmitted to a server of Google LLC and stored there. Google LLC may transfer this information to third parties if legally required or if third parties process this data. You can prevent the collection and forwarding of personal data (especially your IP address) and the processing of this data by deactivating the execution of JavaScript in your browser or installing a tool like “NoScript”. Furthermore, you can prevent the collection of data generated by the Google cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) by Google, as well as avoid the processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link (http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de). Further information on data protection when using GA Audience can be found at the following link: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2700409?hl=en&ref_topic=2611283
Google Ads Conversion
We use Google Ads Conversion to draw attention to our offers on external websites with the help of advertising materials (so-called Google Ads). In relation to the advertising campaign data, we can determine how successful the individual advertising measures are. We pursue the interest of showing you advertisements that are of interest to you, making our website more interesting for you, and achieving a fair calculation of advertising costs.
These advertising materials are delivered by Google via so-called “Ad Servers”. For this purpose, we use Ad Server cookies, through which certain parameters for success measurement – such as the display of ads or clicks by users – can be measured. If you access our website via a Google ad, a cookie is stored on your device by Google Ads. These cookies usually expire after 30 days and are not intended to identify you personally. Typically, the following analytical values are stored for this cookie: the unique cookie ID, the number of ad impressions per placement (frequency), the last impression (relevant for post-view conversions), and opt-out information (marking that users do not wish to be addressed further).
These cookies enable Google to recognize your internet browser. If a user visits certain pages of an Ads customer’s website and the cookie stored on their computer has not yet expired, Google and the customer can recognize that the ad was clicked and redirected to this page. Each Ads customer is assigned their own cookie. Cookies cannot therefore be tracked across the websites of Ads customers. We ourselves do not collect or process any personal data in the mentioned advertising measures. We only receive statistical evaluations from Google. Based on these evaluations, we can determine which of the advertising measures used are particularly effective. We do not receive any further data from the use of the advertising materials; in particular, we cannot identify users based on this information.
Due to the marketing tools used, your browser automatically establishes a direct connection with Google’s server. We have no influence on the scope and further use of the data collected by Google through the use of this tool, and therefore inform you according to our knowledge: By integrating Ads Conversion, Google receives the information that you have accessed the corresponding part of our website or clicked on an ad from us. If you are registered with a Google service, Google can associate the visit with your account. Even if you are not registered with Google or have not logged in, there is a possibility that the provider will obtain and store your IP address.
Microsoft Bing Ads
On our website, we use the conversion and tracking tool Bing Ads from Microsoft Corporation (One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399, USA, “Microsoft”). Microsoft stores a cookie on the users’ computers to enable an analysis of the use of our online services.
This requires that users have reached our website via a Microsoft Bing Ads advertisement. Microsoft and Swiss-Halth Alliance (SHA) Switzerland can thus recognize that someone has clicked on an ad, been redirected to our online services, and reached a predefined target page. We only learn the total number of users who clicked on a Bing ad and were then redirected to the target page (conversions). No IP addresses are stored. No further personal information about the identity of the users is disclosed. The legal basis for the use of this service is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, and the processing serves our legitimate business interests.
If you do not wish to participate in the Bing Ads tracking process, you can object here at Microsoft: http://choice.microsoft.com/de-DE/opt-out. Further information on data protection and the cookies used by Microsoft Bing Ads can be found in Microsoft’s privacy policy: https://privacy.microsoft.com/de-de/privacystatement.
Google Dynamic Remarketing
On our website, we use the remarketing function, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Google Building Gordon House, Barrow St, Dublin 4, Ireland (hereinafter referred to as “Google”). This function serves to present interest-based advertisements to website visitors within the Google advertising network. The browsers of website visitors store so-called cookies. These are text files that are stored on your computer and enable you to be recognized when you visit websites belonging to Google’s advertising network. On these pages, visitors can then be presented with advertisements that relate to content that the visitors previously viewed on websites that use Google’s remarketing function. According to Google, no personal data is collected during this process.
Google reCAPTCHA
We use “Google reCAPTCHA” (hereinafter “reCAPTCHA”) on our websites. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”).
reCAPTCHA is intended to check whether data entry on our websites (e.g., in a contact form) is performed by a human or an automated program. For this purpose, reCAPTCHA analyzes the behavior of website visitors based on various characteristics. This analysis begins automatically as soon as website visitors enter the website. For analysis, reCAPTCHA evaluates various information (e.g., IP address, duration of visitors’ stay on the website, or mouse movements made by users). The data collected during the analysis is forwarded to Google. The reCAPTCHA analyses run completely in the background. Website visitors are not informed that an analysis is taking place. Data processing is carried out on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operators have a legitimate interest in protecting their web offerings from abusive automated data collection and spam.
Further information on Google reCAPTCHA and Google’s privacy policy can be found at the following links: https://www.google.com/intl/de/policies/privacy/ and https://www.google.com/recaptcha/intro/.
Google Maps
We use Google Maps API on our websites to visually display geographical information. Google Maps is offered by Google Ireland (based in Ireland). Google Ireland relies on Google LLC (based in the USA) for this purpose. When using Google Maps, Google also collects, processes, and uses data about the use of the map functions by visitors. More detailed information about data processing by Google can be found in Google’s privacy notices https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de. There, in the Privacy Center, you can also change your personal privacy settings.
Detailed instructions on managing your own data in connection with Google products can be found here https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/3024190.
Indirect Collection of Address Data
We obtain data from service providers for the following purposes:
- Addressing postal advertising mailings and telemarketing (e.g., donation appeals)
- Maintenance, qualification, and updating of our existing data
- Enrichment of address details
Legal Bases for the Processing of your Personal Data
If we obtain your consent for the processing of your personal data (for example, for the delivery of the newsletter or the use of Google Analytics), Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR serves as the legal basis for this data processing, provided that the GDPR is applicable.
If the processing of your personal data serves the fulfillment of a contract (including pre-contractual measures), this is based – provided that the GDPR is applicable – on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, which is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures.
Insofar as the processing of your data is necessary due to the fulfillment of a legal obligation (for example, for the fulfillment of legal retention obligations), Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR serves as the legal basis, provided that the GDPR is applicable.
If the processing is necessary for the protection of a legitimate interest on our part or that of a third party (e.g., the use of your data for marketing purposes, provided you have not objected to it), then, provided that the GDPR is applicable, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR serves as the legal basis for this processing.
Disclosure of your Data
We pass on your data to third parties insofar as we are legally obliged to do so, this is necessary for the operation of our websites and our services, or insofar as you have consented to the disclosure of your data.
For the operation of our websites and for marketing purposes, we also work with external service providers. When engaging external services (so-called data processors), we contractually ensure that our service providers offer adequate guarantees regarding the security and protection of personal data and that they process the data only for the purposes we have specified and as we would be permitted to do.
Data Transfer Abroad
We transfer your personal data to third parties or external service providers abroad for the purpose of the data processing described in this privacy policy. If we transfer data to a country without adequate legal data protection, we contractually ensure (e.g., through so-called standard contractual clauses) that your data is adequately protected.
Retention Period
We process and store your personal data as long as it is necessary for the fulfillment of our contractual and legal obligations, for evidentiary purposes, or for the fulfillment of the purposes of data processing specified by us or apparent from the circumstances.
