The SHA calls for plain tobacco packaging in Switzerland to stop the targeted marketing to young people by the tobacco industry. According to the Swiss Association for Tobacco Prevention, eye-catching packaging, flavors, and online marketing act like advertising – especially for young people.
In 29 countries already – including Australia, France, and Great Britain – standardized packaging without logos with large-scale warning labels have long been a reality. The introduction of this measure there led to a measurable decline in tobacco consumption, especially among young people.
